In coordination with the World Health Organization (WHO), the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and the Fairtransplant Foundation, Mexico was designated as the venue for this international celebration.

The Secretariat of Health is responsible for presiding over the commemorative event that takes place within the framework of the 22nd edition of the Latin American and Caribbean Congress on Transplantation that convenes experts in the field at the national and international level.

Mexico hosted the commemorative event (the date set by the WHO being October 14) with the commitment to promote and raise awareness in Mexican and Latin American societies on the importance of organ and tissue donation to improve the quality of life and give life to those who require it.

On July 3, 2015 in Mexico, the National Transplant Center announced that the number of people on the waiting list for cornea, kidney, liver or heart transplants totaled 19,641.

It is therefore important for us to assume the commitment to be donors. Nowadays, this is easier than ever and it is in our hands is to save the lives of thousands of Mexicans.
