The Foreign Ministry reports that the Permanent Council of the Organization of American States (OAS) today agreed on the venue for the 47th General Assembly.

The meeting will be held in Cancun, Quintana Roo, from June 19 to 21.  This will be the first time that Mexico receives the OAS General Assembly. More than 1,000 people from the 34 member countries are expected to attend, including 72 permanent observers, special guests and civil society organizations, among others.

Mexico reaffirms its commitment to ensuring that the meeting is held at a venue that has all of the technical and logistical services necessary.  It also affirms its readiness to meet the expectations of the OAS member countries, the observers, civil society, business and other sectors for this general assembly.
