During the 71st session of the United Nations General Assembly, Foreign Secretary Claudia Ruiz Massieu spoke at the UN Peacebuilding Fund Pledging Conference, saying that Mexico called on every country to join in as a new donor or to resume or increase their contributions to the fund, to the extent of its abilities.

She was also a speaker at the event on gender statistics organized by UN Women in partnership with the Gates Foundation. She recounted the work Mexico has done in the fight for women's rights and stressed that, for Mexico, gender equality is a key and cross-cutting issue on the 2030 agenda.

Also during the day, the Foreign Secretary met with the Foreign Minister of Singapore, Vivian Balakrishnan to discuss the Mexico-Singapore relationship.

She also met with the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini. The bilateral meeting was to follow up the agreements reached by Mexico and the EU.

The Foreign Secretary held another bilateral meeting with Slovak Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajcak, to discuss the Mexico-Slovakia relationship.
