As the UN Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development (UNSGSA), Her Majesty Queen Máxima of the Netherlands champions universal access to affordable, effective and safe financial services. She is also the Honorary President of the G20’s Global Partnership for Financial Inclusion (GPFI) and serves as a Global Agenda Trustee for the World Economic Forum’s Global Challenge Initiative on the Future of the Global Financial System.

The goal of the International Forum on Financial Inclusion is to analyze financial inclusion strategies, the impacts of international regulation, and the impact of education and protection for the users of financial services.

Representatives from various countries and academics, consultants and officials from international associations and organizations are participating in the forum.

In her remarks, the Queen highlighted the progress that has been made on the issue, saying, "Mexico is one of the countries where the gender gap in finances has improved."
