In Mexico, there’s considerable progress in detecting breast cancer on time. This is because social networks, Internet and the media contribute to continuously inform and aware the patient of this disease.

Over the last 20 years, the treatment against breast cancer is less aggressive thanks to the development of new technologies and progress in surgical procedures, like radiotherapy and chemotherapy.

Women should teach their daughters to self-explore without any fear. And for women over 40 years old, it’s desirable that they go to the doctor once per year.

This will help detecting the disease at an early stage and provide treatment in time. In the Unit for Mammary Tumors of the Oncology Department at the General Hospital of Mexico there’s an immediate care policy, meaning, that the patients are checked and received the same day they arrive at the hospital.

At this clinic, around 500 new cases are treated each year and it has the most successful, innovative and effective treatments available for the population.
