For months now, the Foreign Ministry, on behalf of the Mexican government, has expressed its serious concern about the deterioration of the democratic order and the increasing violence in Venezuela, and has repeatedly urged the government and the various political actors to find a peaceful resolution to the crisis.

In connection with yesterday's serious incidents involving Venezuela’s Supreme Court of Justice and the National Assembly, the Mexican government again voices its strong repudiation of the violence there.  These events are absolutely unacceptable, regardless of their authorship and motivation. Mexico urgently calls on the Venezuelan government and people to end the violence and to restore the full validity of the democratic institutions in a peaceful way and through political negotiation.

Once again, the Mexican Foreign Ministry expresses its readiness to contribute diplomatically and in good faith to a peaceful resolution of the crisis, with full respect for the sovereignty and constitution of Venezuela.
