The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports that two Mexican citizens have tragically lost their lives in the wildfires on the island of Maui in Hawaii. The Ministry conveys its deepest condolences to the victims' families and friends.

Personnel from the Mexican consulate in San Francisco who are on the island are in contact with the victims' families to provide them with all necessary assistance. The consular officials are also in contact with local authorities about the procedures and protocols to follow, given the emergency on the island.

Consular personnel have been in Maui since Saturday, August 12, to provide assistance, issue emergency passports and other identity documents, and information about the resources provided by U.S. authorities.

The Mexican community is advised that the telephone number of the Center for Information and Attention for Mexicans (CIAM) is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week: +1(520)623-7874.

The Government of Mexico reiterates its commitment to prioritizing comprehensive consular assistance and protection for all Mexicans on Maui, and it again conveys its condolences to the victims' families.
