The 53rd International Paris Air Show will take place at the Le Bourget exhibition venue from June 17-23. It is the largest and longest-running aviation and aerospace trade show in the world, and is attended by about 350,000 visitors.

This year, the governors of Querétaro and Yucatán; senior officials from Baja California, Chihuahua, Durango, Nuevo León and Sonora; and representatives from aerospace clusters; academic institutions; airports; companies; and MexicoNOW are all attending the air show, as is the Promotion Commission, made up of American Industries, GP Desarrollos, FINSA, Haskell, Hermosillo, Intermex, Terrafina and Vesta. The organizing committee of the Mexican Aerospace Fair (FAMEX), which collaborates closely with FEMIA, is also participating.

During the inauguration and ribbon cutting at the Mexico Pavilion, FEMIA Executive President Luis Lizcano discussed the panorama for Mexico's aviation and aerospace industry, saying that we need to unite and work together, given the global competition. He called on the delegation to get as much as possible out of the fair in order to continue promoting the development of this high tech and innovative industry in Mexico.

Mexico's ambassador in France, Juan Manuel Gómez Robledo, said that the country’s aviation industry has had a big impact on boosting the nation’s economic development and competitiveness, thanks to the presence in Mexico of some of the top companies in the sector.  He further said that Mexico's attendance at the fair is fully in line with the government's actions to achieve the well-being of all Mexicans.

General Rodolfo Rodríguez Quezada, president of FAMEX, said the Mexican Aerospace Fair is the biggest in Latin America, and he officially announced that it would be held in 2021. Querétaro Governor Francisco Domínguez Servién discussed the important role played by classrooms, research centers and the aerospace industry, together with Mexico's ability to compete and win in the industry.

Over the past ten years, Mexico's aviation and aerospace industry has grown rapidly: since 2004, exports have increased at a double-digit annual average rate to over USD 8.5 billion in 2019 (12% more that in 2017), with a workforce of 60,000 people, ranking Mexico 12th worldwide. United States, Canada, France and Germany are its main export markets.

Mexico has become a major destination for foreign direct investment (FDI) in the global aviation and aerospace industry over the last five years. FDI is estimated at about USD 13 billion, of which 75% is from North America and 25% from Europe.
