• The Foreign Ministry signed an collaboration agreement with the National College of Mexican Notaries for the secure verification of documents
  • The agreement will contribute to the specialization and professional development of Foreign Ministry personnel and affiliated notaries

Today, the Foreign Ministry signed an inter-institutional collaboration agreement with the National College of Mexican Notaries (CNNM) for the verification of documents.

The agreement means that notaries will be able to verify the authenticity of consular ID cards and passports used by Mexican citizens to identify themselves, and the Foreign Ministry will be able to verify the notarial deeds submitted by applicants for passports and consular ID cards. This will expedite the procedures for Mexicans in Mexico and abroad.

The agreement will also promote the specialization and professional development of Foreign Ministry staff and that of the affiliated notaries, and create synergies in areas of mutual interest and benefit.

Present at the ceremony for CNNM were President Guillermo Escamilla Narváez; Foreign Relations Commission President Bolívar Navarrete; and Technical Secretary Susana Arce. The Foreign Ministry was represented by officials from the areas for Passport Offices; Consular Services; Legal Affairs; and Information Technology and Innovation.

The agreement advances the commitment of the Foreign Ministry to broaden the acceptance of its consular ID cards and passports, both within Mexico and abroad, as official identification documents.
