Today, Foreign Secretary Marcelo Ebrard headed a Forum to Accelerate Synergies between Startups, the Tech Sector and the Government (FASSST) at the Foreign Ministry to discuss Mexico's international competitiveness and to better position Mexicans globally so that projects to increase our citizens well-being find opportunities for foreign investment.

The FASSST Forum brought more than 50 Mexican CEOs from innovative fields such as fintech, logistics, healthtech, insurtech, blockchain, e-commerce and software together with government officials.

The Foreign Secretary said that the forum "is an instruction given to us by the president [...] it is an extraordinary opportunity to [...] turn it into a shared policy [...] we are going to turn it into a joint program with the Economy Ministry and probably other government agencies in order to step up the pace.”

"If, with this, Mexico manages to achieve greater growth, the impact on the growth of the Gross Domestic Product could be very important, difficult to quantify at this time, but we can do it for the next meeting of the forum," he said.

Lastly, the Foreign Secretary pledged to facilitate the business executives' presence abroad in order to accelerate Mexico's economic growth.

Three plenary meetings and nine simultaneous roundtables were held at the forum on issues such as Mexico's international competitiveness, digital governance, teleworking, and investments in education and health.

The event was attended by Economy Secretary Tatiana Clouthier and representatives from the Ministries of Education and Labor; the National Guard; the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM); the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN); the Federal Economic Competition Commission (Cofece); the Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT); and the National Insurance and Surety Commission (CNSF).
