On November 1, 2005, the United Nations General Assembly designated January 27—the day in 1945 that the Soviet Army entered the Auschwitz concentration camp—as International Holocaust Remembrance Day. It is estimated that an estimated six million people endured unimaginable suffering as a result of the Holocaust during the Second World War.

Below, we share a number of commemorative post cards inspired by Sergey Larenkov’s photomontages. We believe that, by contrasting the past with the present of various places in Austria, they are an unparalleled way of communicating the importance of peace.
