During the First National Congress on Agrifood Health and Safety, authorities, producers and academics reaffirmed their commitment to work shoulder to shoulder in order to strengthen the sanitary and food safety actions that have positioned Mexico as one of the main countries generating healthy and safe food. 

Over 40 specialists in plant health, animal health and food safety from Mexico and other countries agreed that the public-private partnership is a key element to promote health in agriculture, livestock, fisheries and aquaculture, as well as to develop new technologies to promote effective and sustainable pest management.

The participants pointed out that this type of dialogues invite reflection and analysis to generate joint work schemes on issues such as traceability, campaigns, programs and techniques for pest and disease management, as well as antimicrobial resistance.

Agrifood health and safety is a public good, which generates values for the society as a whole, since it contributes to promote the development of rural communities, to protect the national food supply and consequently to strengthen food security.
