During the celebration of the International Plant Health Day, it became clear that the importance of plant health is essential for the survival of mankind.
Phytosanitarians, technicians, researchers and representatives of various international organizations gathered on the esplanade of the headquarters building of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development for this celebration, which aims to raise public awareness of the importance of protecting plants.
By protecting agrifood production from the threats posed by pests and diseases, Senasica contributes to the objective of strengthening the country's food security, guaranteeing a sufficient and varied food supply at affordable prices for the population, and promoting the development of rural communities in our country, particularly small and medium-sized producers.
Protecting plant health is the way to reduce hunger, fight poverty and preserve the environment, because 80 percent of the food consumed by humanity comes from plants, which also generate almost 100 percent of the oxygen we need to survive.
