Buenos días a todos. En primer lugar, quiero agradecer al Gobierno de Estados Unidos por albergar esta reunión de alto nivel del día de hoy. Apreciamos la hospitalidad que ha hecho este evento de lanzamiento posible.
Quiero aprovechar la oportunidad para felicitar a nuestros equipos por el duro trabajo que han realizado para que estemos aquí.
Es un honor para mí encabezar esta reunión con la secretaria Raimondo. El hecho de que esté sucediendo es un reflejo del fuerte estado de nuestra asociación y nuestra visión compartida para la prosperidad de nuestros pueblos.
El DEAN no sólo es un mandato presidencial para nosotros; representa un camino a una región más inclusiva, competitiva y vanguardista.
En los primeros siete meses de 2021, México se ha posicionado como el principal socio comercial de Estados Unidos, lo cual refleja nuestra relación comercial dinámica y nuestra profunda integración productiva.
Nuestra presencia aquí hoy confirma que nuestra asociación económica es la respuesta a muchos de los retos que enfrentamos, como la recuperación de la pandemia y sus muy diversas consecuencias.
El compromiso a nuestra integración productiva fue respaldado hace poco más de un año con la entrada en vigor del T-MEC, un Tratado que deberá contribuir a fortalecer nuestra asociación económica.
Sin embargo, el T-MEC no opera en un vacío, debemos crear las mejores condiciones para su implementación para conseguir los beneficios que esperamos.
Como lo veo, el DEAN será complementario al T-MEC ya que ayudará a crear las condiciones adecuadas para hacer nuestra asociación económica aún más fuerte.
El DEAN nos permitirá mejorar los ambientes económicos y de negocios para que nuestros países sigan creciendo a tasas veloces. En esta ocasión, el DEAN se enfoca en algunos de nuestros principales desafíos, pero también alrededor de algunas de nuestras mayores oportunidades.
La pandemia ha creado sufrimiento económico severo de manera generalizada, pero también alrededor de pequeños negocios, mujeres y minorías. Al fortalecer nuestra integración, tendremos una economía más fuerte que ofrezca mayores oportunidades a aquéllos que han sido afectados de manera desproporcionada por el COVID-19.
El DEAN también habla de la resiliencia de las instituciones en nuestra relación y de cómo gestionan una relación tan amplia compleja y rica como la nuestra.
Es un momento emocionante para nuestra relación económica y depende de nosotros aprovecharlo y asegurarnos de cumplir con la promesa. El relanzamiento del DEAN es ciertamente un paso contundente en esa dirección.

Good morning everyone. First of all, I want to thank the U.S. Government for hosting this high level meeting today. We appreciate your hospitality that has made this important launching event possible.
I want to take the opportunity to congratulate our teams for all the hard work they have accomplished to have all of us here.
It is an honor for me to be chairing this meeting alongside secretary Raimondo. The fact that it is happening is a reflection of the strong state of our partnership and our shared vision for the prosperity of our peoples.
The HLED is not only a Presidential mandate for us; it represents a path to a more inclusive, competitive and cutting-edge region.
In the first seven months of 2021, Mexico has positioned itself as the U.S.’ main trade partner, which reflects our dynamic trade relationship and deep productive integration.
Our presence here today confirms that our economic partnership is the answer to many of the challenges we are facing, such as recovery from the pandemic and its very diverse consequences.
Our commitment to our productive integration received an endorsement over a year ago with the entry into force of the USMCA, an agreement that should help us to strengthen our economic partnership.
However, USMCA does not operate in a vacuum; we need to create the best conditions for its implementation to yield the benefits we are expecting.
As I see it, the HLED will be complementary to the USMCA as it will help to create the right conditions to make our economic partnership even stronger.
The HLED will allow us to improve the economic and business environment so our countries continue to grow at fast rates. This time the HLED focuses on some of our greatest challenges, but also, around some of our biggest opportunities.
The pandemic has caused severe economic pain across the board but especially among small business, women and minorities. By strengthening our integration, we will have a stronger economy to offer more opportunities to those disproportionately affected by COVID19.
HLED speaks also to the resilience of institutions in our relationship and the way they work to manage such a broad, complex and rich association between our countries.
It is an exciting time for our economic relationship, it is up to us to take up on it and make sure we deliver. The relaunching of the HLED is certainly a resounding step in that direction.
