In the increase of obesity in children, multiple factors intervene, including environmental, social and genetic factors. In response, health, academic and governmental institutions carry out novel strategies that draw on the scientific evidence and technology to address this health problem.

In this sense, Mexico´s Children Hospital Federico Gómez (HIMFG) developed a program for the care of obesity and overweight in which patients and their families participate, and which uses as an axis the mobile application (App) PAIDOS.

With this app, the patient can record the type and quantity of food eaten during the day, follow personalized physical activity routines and receive specific strategies to help the patient identify when he eats through hunger or to channel emotions.

When the hunger felt by patients is caused by some affective event, it is accompanied by emotions such as anxiety, anger, sadness, among others. The App offers tools to stop this behavior and focus on strategies such as exercise and healthy eating habits.

During the implementation of the pilot program, due to the use of the App, an adherence to the program of 85% was achieved at three months of follow-up and 70% at six months.
