On April 9, in Mexico City, the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) will present the report of the High Level Commission on "Universal Health in the 21st Century: 40 Years of Alma-Ata", which will bring together more than 22 delegations, ministers and health ministers, international leaders in global health, experts and members of civil society in the Americas.

The High Level Commission is an initiative led by the former President of Chile, Michelle Bachelet, current United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, who together with her 19 members worked for a year to analyze and concentrate the best recommendations to contribute that the nations of the region advance in the transformation of their health systems and overcome exclusion, inequity, barriers to access and timely use of comprehensive health services.

In this sense, the realization of this event is strategic in generating knowledge for discussion at the United Nations General Assembly on Universal Health Coverage, to be held in September of this year in the city of New York.

This is how Mexico reaffirms to the international community its firm conviction to work to make effective the right to health of the Mexican population, with a vision focused on individuals, families and communities, through the Primary Care approach with an Integral Health and universal access to health.
