On May 22, Mexico´s Ministry of Health, through its holder Dr. Jose Narro Robles, participated in the 71st World Health Assembly #WHA71, held in the city of Geneva, in Switzerland.

The Assembly is the annual space where high level experts from member states meet to determine the policies of the World Health Organization (WHO), establish guidelines, monitor financial policies and appoint the Director General of WHO.

Within his activities in the Assembly, Dr. Narro Robles participated in the plenary "Health for all committed to universal health coverage", with the presentation Health, a Human Right and Responsibility.

In it, the official addressed the issue of inequality as an enemy of health, and the ethical imperative that raises attention for governments. He also spoke of the imperative that must be to prevent health from becoming a commodity: "Our society suffers a crisis of values ​​and health is not exempt from its consequences. Health is not a commodity and the market should not define the direction of its attention ".

As a member, Narro Robles also participated in the third meeting of the High Level Independent Commission on Noncommunicable Diseases, in which the report was presented to the Director General of WHO.

Finally, the Minister of Health met with the Director General of WHO, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, who was elected to the position for a period of five years during the 70th World Health Assembly.
