Since 2010, the Children's Hospital of Mexico "Dr. Federico Gómez ", carries out the protocol of bariatric surgery in pediatrics, through the technique known as gastric sleeve, which has allowed to increase the life expectancy in adolescents diagnosed with morbid obesity.

Those who have undergone this type of surgery have reduced up to 40 kilograms and managed to reverse type 2 diabetes mellitus in patients diagnosed with this disease. Its results have allowed life expectancy to increase between 20 and 30 years, due to the fact that, due to its physical and health condition, 49 years of its life were shortened.

Although there are different types of interventions, the most effective has been known as gastric sleeve, since it inhibits the consumption of compulsive food in young people. While with the other non-surgical methods only three percent improvement in patients is obtained.

With this comprehensive management of morbid obesity, weight loss is achieved without presenting nutritional problems, quality of life is improved and adequate control of major complications associated and not totally controlled by this condition, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, as well as muscular bone problems, among others.
