Worldwide, it is estimated that 1 in 3 women and 1 in 5 men over 50 have osteoporosis.

From birth to around age 20, calcium builds up in our bones, making them dense. After that age the mineral density begins to get lost and in some cases the bones become weak, fragile, porous and can break easily. This is osteoporosis.

As in other diseases, healthy lifestyles from childhood are essential to prevent osteoporosis. Vitamin D has a very important role in the accumulation of calcium in the bones. The main way in which we obtain it is through sunlight, since it initiates a biochemical process in which it synthesizes vitamin D in the body. Regular exercise and a diet rich in calcium are also very important habits to promote since childhood.
