President Enrique Peña Nieto announced that as a result of the investment projects
to be undertaken by Petróleos Mexicanos,
the Miguel Hidalgo de Tula Refinery will be reconfigured.
A total of $6.598 billion USD will be earmarked for this investment.
The Miguel Hidalgo Refinery is currently the second largest in the National Refining System, with a capacity
of 315,000 barrels a day.
Its reconfiguration will make it the largest refinery in the country: involving an
investment of $4.825 billion USD.
It will be assigned $250 million
USD for the production of clean fuels, $770
million USD for Ultra Low Sulfur
diesel and $753 million USD for
energy cogeneration projects.
35% of this reconfiguration has been achieved, with the refinery being
scheduled for completion during the first
half of 2018.
