The 47th General Assembly of the Organization of American States began today under the presidency of Foreign Secretary Luis Videgaray. At the meeting, all the foreign ministers and heads of delegations of the member States had the opportunity to express their opinions in an open and inclusive setting.
The Americas is a region of diversity. However, our differences should not prevent us from respectfully upholding the values that we share.
For this reason, we express our solidarity with the Foreign Minister of Costa Rica, Manuel A. González Sanz, who was described during today's meeting in words that in no way reflect his standing and prestige. Remarks such as those that we witnessed today fall far short of the spirit of dialogue and respect that Mexico has encouraged at this hemispheric meeting.
