President Enrique Peña Nieto announced today that he has instructed the Interior Secretariat to engage in close institutional cooperation with the governments of the states where elections will be held on Sunday June 5, in order to promote and build a climate that will ensure it is  “an exemplary civic day, to reaffirm our democratic vocation and where the residents of these 14 states choose their next authorities freely and secretly.”

He said that the government, “Has engaged in constant coordination with the electoral authorities, and will continue to do so, so that in the context of our responsibilities, we provide them with greater support in order to ensure that this a civic, democratic and exemplary election day, a day of peace and harmony, and above all a space for voters to freely exercise their right to vote.”

At the event held in the State of Mexico, during which he inaugurated the Airport Boulevard Distributor Road and Toluca-Naucalpan Federal Highway, President Peña Nieto added that, “The government is ready to provide support and institutional collaboration where this is required to ensure an exemplary civic-democratic day.”
