President Enrique Peña Nieto appointed Carlos Pérez Verdía Coordinator of Advisors.
Carlos Pérez Verdía holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the Universidad Iberoamericana and a PhD in economics from the University of Chicago.
He was recently Under-Minister for North America and General Coordinator of Advisors to the Foreign Minister, both at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
At the International Monetary Fund (IMF), he was Executive Director tasked with representing Mexico, Central America, Spain and Venezuela. He also participate in various technical assistance missions in African and Latin American countries.
At the Bank of Mexico, he served as National Operations Manager, Information and Analysis Manager of Central Banking Operations and Researcher at the Head Office of Market Analysis and Evaluation.
In the academic sphere, he has been professor of macroeconomics at the University of Chicago.
Pérez Verdía will now be responsible for supporting and advising the president and the head of the president’s office on matters assigned to him.
