President Enrique Peña Nieto sent off the Mexican delegations that will participate in the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Río on July 21.
Cyclist Daniela Campuzano Chávez Peón and swimmer Nelly Edith Miranda Herrera received the national flag from President Enrique Peña Nieto.
“This competition, undoubtedly the most eagerly awaited event by all the sports delegations every four years, the Olympic and Paralympic Games, will be a great opportunity and a personal challenge for each of you. Mexico will be follow this sporting event closely”: EPN
Sending off the Mexican delegation was a historical event for the president:
“During my administration, this is the first and only opportunity I will have as president to send off the delegation that will represent Mexico at the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Rio 2016 on behalf of Mexico”:
”For those who play sports, I know that maintaining a constant, iron discipline, training several hours every day for several months, to be the best in the various disciplines in which they participate, is admirable and deserves the greatest applause and recognition of the president and all Mexicans”:
The Mexican president wished the athletes success:
I wish you every success and hope that this competition will be an opportunity for each of you personally, to meet a challenge and fulfill what I am sure is a personal mission for many of you.

Mexico at Rio 2016
128 Mexican athletes will participate (48 women and 81 men) in 27 disciplines. These will be the first Olympic Games for 73 athletes.
66 Mexican athletes (31 women and 35 men) will participte in 9 disciplines. They will be the first Olympic Games for 32 athletes.
