The Foreign Ministry and the Office of the Attorney General report that the United States government extradited César "D" to Mexico today, where he will be prosecuted for the crimes of embezzlement and criminal association, both with sentencing enhancement.
The Office of the Attorney General will deliver César "D" to the authorities of the State of Chihuahua, where he will be put at the disposal of the pre-trial judge of the Morelos Judicial District in Chihuahua, which issued the defendant's arrest warrant on October 8, 2019, and where the corresponding criminal process will be initiated.
Together with various public servants and other individuals outside of government, the defendant is accused of allegedly carrying out actions that diverted public resources totaling more than 96 million Mexican pesos between 2011 and 2014.
Today's extradition is the result of the close collaboration between the two countries, which have been exchanging information and documentation related to this case since 2019 under the bilateral extradition treaty so that he can face justice in Mexico after having fled more than three years ago to escape it.
The Mexican government reiterates that it will continue to act decisively to achieve the arrest, prosecution and delivery of alleged criminals in order to strengthen national security and defend its sovereignty in strict adherence to international law and especially to the Mexico-US bilateral extradition treaty.
