Today, during President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s daily morning conference, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Marcelo Ebrard Casaubon; the Minister of Economy, Graciela Márquez Colin and Julio Scherer Ibarra, celebrated the entry into force of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). This marks the beginning of a very relevant presence of Mexico in investment, employment and economic growth.

Minister Ebrard emphasized that the Agreement reached is a major achievement for our countries, beyond our governments, because it represents a commitment with the future development of Mexico. This commitment is based on competitive wages, mechanisms that had not been previously applied to resolve differences or controversies between countries, and on long term certainty for Mexico.

Minister Ebrard also pointed out that our country has been a very important promoter of this new phase of the relationship between the three countries. Because of this, it is in Mexico's strategic interest to promote this achievement and consolidate it for the benefit of all: investors, financial institutions, but also of the international arena.

Finally, the Minister noted that, as a result of the talks between President López Obrador and President Donald Trump, as well as interactions related to the Agreement, yesterday Mexico received an invitation for an official work visit to the United States. The visit will be held on July 8th and 9th, and its objective is to mark the entry into force of the USMCA and to address issues of the bilateral and trilateral agenda.
