The Ministries of the Interior, Foreign Affairs, Health and Tourism and the National Institute of Migration (INM) began a discussion with United States authorities to determine the scope of the executive order signed on January 21 by President Joseph Biden on promoting Covid-19 safety in domestic and international travel.

Under discussion are the timing and type of tests needed by travelers to the United States before they board a flight or cross a land border, and the requirement that some travelers self-quarantine on arrival at their destination, and the length and conditions of the quarantine.

The Government of Mexico will keep the public, the binational community and the various industries informed about the measures that are adopted.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, the Government of Mexico has promoted joint measures to avoid non-essential travel and protect the health of individuals who must travel between the two countries.
