This year, the prize for best undergraduate thesis went to Roberto Antonio Larrañaga Domínguez for "Canals, Silver and Empires: The Foreign Policy of the Second French Empire towards Mexico.”

The award for best doctoral thesis went to Sebastián Nelson Rivera Mir for his research on "Radical Militants of the Latin American Left in Mexico from 1920-1934: Political Practices, Networks and Conspiracies." No award was given this year for a master’s degree thesis.

In the research category, the jury recognized Ambassador Bruno Figueroa Fischer for “One Hundred Years of Mexican International Cooperation (1900-2000): Solidarity, Interests and Geopolitics.”

The Genaro Estrada award was established in 2001 to encourage research into the history of Mexico’s international relations, based on the documents contained in the Genaro Estrada Archives of Diplomatic History.

The award ceremony was led by Francisco de Paula Castro Reynoso, Deputy Director General of the Archives of Diplomatic History, and Erika Pani, a member of the archives’ advisory council.
