• Since he was taken hostage by Hamas, Mexico has conducted negotiations and taken steps with third countries, such as France and Israel, to find him alive and free him.
  • The Foreign Ministry has been in ongoing communication with his family and continues to provide all necessary support, including helping with the repatriation of his remains from Israel.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports that the Israeli government informed our embassy in Israel early this morning that it had recovered the body of Orión Hernández Radoux, a Mexican taken hostage by Hamas in Gaza on October 7 during the group’s terrorist attack on Israeli territory.

As it did in the case of Mexican citizen Ilana Gritzewsky, who was released alive last November, Mexico carried out negotiations and took steps with countries in the Middle East region, and coordinated with France and Israel for the release of Orión Hernández, who was reported to be alive in all the information received.

The Foreign Ministry has been in ongoing communication with his family and continues to provide all necessary support, including helping with the repatriation of his remains from Israel.

Mexico calls for an immediate ceasefire and strongly condemns the attacks against the civilian population in the region that have caused immeasurable suffering to innocent people and their families.

The Foreign Ministry conveys its deepest condolences to the family of Orión Hernández and laments the tragic news received today.
