Foreign Secretary Marcelo Ebrard announced new appointments within the Foreign Ministry for three members of the Mexican Foreign Service (SEM), beginning July 1. They are: Enrique Rojo Stein, as president of the SEM Personnel Commission; Alejandro Alday González, director general of the Matías Romero Institute; and Alejandro Celorio Alcántara, legal counsel.

Ambassador Enrique Rojo Stein has been a member of the Mexican Foreign Service since 1992, holds an undergraduate degree in international relations and a master's degree in military administration for national security and defense. He has held various posts in the Foreign Ministry in the areas for North America and consular affairs, and as director general of special affairs. Abroad he has been posted to Mexico's consulate in Los Angeles and the embassy in the United States. He also served as ambassador in Jordan.

Alejandro Alday González joined the SEM in 1998. He has a law degree and a master's degree in diplomatic studies. Abroad, he has been posted to Mexico's representations to the Organization of American States and the United Nations.  In the Foreign Ministry, he has been director general of human rights and democracy, as well as legal counsel.

Alejandro Celorio Alcántara has been a member of the SEM since 2006. In the Foreign Ministry, he was Deputy Legal Counsel "A". In the embassy in the U.S., he was head of the Hispanic and Migration Affairs Section, where he worked on defending the interests of Mexicans in the U.S., especially undocumented ones. He has experience in strategic litigation, and in working with pro-migrants and civil rights organizations.  He has also been posted to the Mexican consulate in Sacramento, California as consul for protection, and in the embassy in Paraguay he was in charge of political and economic affairs.
