A ceremony was held today to receive a donation of medical supplies made by the Government of the Republic of Korea and Seegene Mexico to the Health Ministry to help in the fight against the current COVID-19 pandemic.

The donation consists of 50,000 PCR tests, 20,000 surgical masks and 100 freezers to store COVID-19 tests, which will be distributed and used by front-line Health Ministry personnel.

The event took place at the Foreign Ministry and was attended by the Undersecretary for Multilateral Affairs and Human Rights, Martha Delgado; Korean Ambassador Suh Jeong-in; INSABI Director General Juan Ferrer; the regional president for Latin America of the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency in Mexico (KOTRA), Kim Kijoong; Seegene Mexico Director General Jung Sunkyung, and the Director General for Civil Society Organizations, Rodolfo Osorio.

Both parties agreed that the generous donation symbolizes the stronger ties of solidarity and cooperation on health between Korea and Mexico, countries that for years have had stable and mutually beneficial relations. It is also proof of both countries' belief that adversities and challenges can only be faced and resolved through bilateral cooperation and multilateralism, diplomacy and friendly exchanges.

This is one of various expressions of Korea's solidarity with Mexico. On behalf of Foreign Secretary Marcelo Ebrard, the Mexican side expressed its appreciation for the generous gesture and reiterated the desire to continue working together for a better future.
