• At the 9th Summit of the Americas, U.S. President  Joseph Biden announced the launch of a new economic cooperation partnership for the region, the Americas Partnership for Economic Prosperity.
  • The aim is to make the challenges facing the region a priority and to take advantage of synergies that allow for equitable and inclusive growth.

During the 9th Summit of the Americas, which is taking place in Los Angeles, California, President Joseph Biden announced the creation of the Americas Partnership for Economic Prosperity, which is focused on driving the region's economic growth and prioritizing approaches that reduce the inequalities between our societies, protect the most vulnerable and promote the creation of well-paid jobs. The initiative seeks to promote innovation in the public and private sectors and to address climate change through investment with strategies focused on resilience and sustainability.

The Government of Mexico welcomes this proposal and will join the signatory countries. Given the new geopolitical and economic realities, Mexico reiterates the need to seek new ways to promote economic growth for all that contribute to a better distribution of wealth.

One important aspect of this agreement will be to seek to ensure that the benefits of trade are well distributed, and include historically marginalized communities such as women, youths and the LGBTQ+ community, also taking into account the interests of workers and SMEs. As part of the initiative, Mexico will seek greater investment flows in the hemisphere to promote economic growth and well-paid jobs.
