The Foreign Ministry and the European Union held two virtual workshops for Mexican government officials involved in public order, security, customs and trade as part of the EU P2P (Partner to Partner) program of the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT).

This marks the beginning of a series of workshops and training sessions, and an exchange of knowledge and experiences on preventing the diversion of conventional arms and controlling international arms transfers. The seminar stressed the importance of promoting a more comprehensive approach to the registration and transfer of arms, and of a detailed understanding of the synergies between the ATT and other regional mechanisms and instruments.

This cooperation between the Government of Mexico and the European Union is to broaden and deepen collaboration on security matters. As part of this initiative, the Foreign Ministry has been designated as the focal point, in coordination with the French agency, Expertise France, to lead these training forums, proof of Mexico's commitment to the fight against transnational organized crime.
