The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announces that effective January 25 its delegations in Mexico City and Naucalpan de Juárez and Toluca de Lerdo in the State of Mexico will reopen with limited (30%) capacity and in strict adherence to the requirements of the federal and state health authorities related to the current health emergency.

Passport service in these delegations will resume starting with  individuals who had scheduled appointments for dates when service was suspended. New appointments will be given without exceeding the 30%-capacity requirement.

Appointments for passport services in these delegations can be scheduled on the internet, at https://citas.sre.gob.mx. This is the only authorized website and it is completely free of charge.  Appointments can also be scheduled by calling the Contact Center at 800 80 10 773, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Individuals who urgently need a passport are asked to make an appointment.  The goal is to assist those who have a need for a valid passport consistent with the current pandemic travel restrictions while safeguarding the well-being of all that enter and work at our delegations.

The public is reminded of the importance of avoiding fraud. No payments or deposits for passport-related appointments should be made to personal accounts or in convenience stores.

The following protocols must be followed in order to enter the Foreign Ministry delegations for passport appointments:

  • All visits require a previously-scheduled appointment. Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled time.
  • Wear a mask and use antibacterial gel.
  • An acrylic face shield and latex gloves are recommended.
  • Your temperature will be taken at the entrance.
  • Stay 1.5 meters away from other people.
  • Anyone with symptoms of respiratory disease will not be able to enter.

Depending on the level of risk indicated by the Covid traffic light system established by federal or state health authorities, service will resume or be suspended in the delegations.

The Foreign Ministry regrets the inconvenience caused to the public by the temporary suspension of passport services in these delegations while reiterating its full commitment to providing the best service to the public in accordance with public health requirements.
