As part of Mexico's efforts to assist the countries of Latin America in the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, the Foreign Ministry held a commemorative act today to mark the delivery of more than one million medical supplies to the Government of Guatemala.

The donation was made possible thanks to the invaluable support of Direct Relief Mexico and includes, among other supplies, isolation gowns, other protective clothing, face shields, digital thermometers and surgical and KN-95 masks.  The main beneficiaries will be frontline doctors in the Guatemalan Health Ministry.

The event took place in Toluca, State of Mexico, where the next Honorary Consulate of Guatemala will be opened, and was led by Ambassador Mario Adolfo Búcaro. The Foreign Ministry was represented by the Undersecretary for Latin America and the Caribbean, Maximiliano Reyes; the Director General for Political Coordination, Ximena Escobedo; the Director General for Latin America and the Caribbean, Martín Borrego; and the Director General of the Mesoamerican Integration and Development Project, Gloria Sandoval.  Also present was the president of the Latin American Commission, Senator Beatriz Paredes, and Juan Howlet from the Direct Relief México organization.

The Government of Mexico reiterates that cooperation and solidarity between governments is the way to face the various challenges we face as nations.
