On July 17 in the Foreign Ministry, 230 Mexican students received scholarships from a consortium of Chinese universities.  The scholarship program is managed by the China Campus Network organization.

Alberto Uribe, Director General of Political Coordination in the Foreign Ministry, highlighted the support provided to the students by the state governments of Chiapas, Guanajuato, Sinaloa, Sonora and Jalisco, and the municipality of León, Guanajuato. Both the federal and local authorities share the priority of increasing Mexico's international academic ties.

Andrés Díaz Bedolla, from the China Campus Network, said the scholarships would improve the skills of the students in the Mexican job market, while creating ties between the two countries.  A better mutual understanding will make it easier to take advantage of the business and collaborative opportunities that exist between the two countries.

Lastly, Undersecretary Julián Ventura emphasized the importance of the ties between the two societies and, therefore, the importance of backing academic programs such as these.  He remarked that Mexican students abroad bring Mexico's best practices and values with them, and he urged the students to benefit from the two-way dynamic of their international education.

The China Campus Network is a consortium of 28 Chinese universities that combine their resources with those of the Chinese government and business sector to promote cultural exchanges and encourage economic relations with other countries.
