The Foreign Ministry reports that, in regard to the 39 people who were discovered in the back of a tractor-trailer in San Antonio, Texas, preliminary information provided by the Mexican consulate in San Antonio indicates that 25 of them are Mexican citizens.

So far, based on information received in interviews conducted by consular personnel and from local authorities, of the 10 people who lost their lives, four of them were Mexicans.

Twenty-nine people are hospitalized, of which 21 are Mexicans, two are from other countries and the nationalities of six are not known at this time. 

Mexico's consulate in San Antonio has taken the necessary steps to provide consular assistance and protection to the Mexican victims and to the families of those who have been identified.

The consulate will continue to work closely with local and federal authorities to determine the nationality of all of the victims.

The Mexican government reiterates its condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in this tragic event.
