On behalf of the Mexican government, the Foreign Ministry conveys its sincere condolences to the people and governments of the Caribbean islands hit by Hurricane María and mourns the loss of life left in its path.
Two enormously powerful hurricanes in succession hit the Caribbean, destroying the infrastructure of these small island states and territories and creating huge challenges for their development. Mexico, which is also suffering from the effects of natural disasters, reiterates the solidarity of the Mexican government and people for their Caribbean neighbors and commits to helping to strengthen the existing mechanisms for comprehensive risk management.
