The Foreign Ministry reports that Foreign Secretary Luis Videgaray is in Santo Domingo for the third round of negotiations between the Venezuelan government and the opposition being hosted by the President of the Republic Dominican, Danilo Medina.

As part of Mexico's process of evaluation, this meeting will enable it to assess the commitment and seriousness of the Venezuelan government and opposition in reaching an agreement.

The goal of the Mexican government is and will continue to be to contribute to an understanding between the parties in order to achieve a genuine return to democratic normality.

The dialogue between the government and opposition began on December 2. It is accompanied by the governments of Mexico, Bolivia, Chile, Nicaragua and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
