On his first day in New York to attend the 72nd regular session of the UN General Assembly, Foreign Secretary Luis Videgaray met with members of the  American Jewish Committee (AJC), highlighting the areas of agreement between the Mexican and Jewish communities in the United States, and the work being done to achieve their common goals.

Foreign Secretary Videgaray discussed key issues of the bilateral relationship with Israel and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's visit to Mexico, in addition to the relationship with the United States and renegotiation of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).

The meeting also included an assessment of rescission of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals Program (DACA). Foreign Secretary Videgaray reaffirmed President Enrique Peña Nieto's message about the youths' value and Mexico's total support in the United States and in Mexico for those who decide to return.

In addition, the Foreign Secretary highlighted the contribution of the Jewish community in Mexico to the country's economic, social and cultural development.

The event was moderated by AJC Executive Director David Harris, and was attended by prominent members of the Jewish community in the United States and Mexico.
