He will sign, for Mexico, the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons that was adopted on July 7 by the United Nations Conference with the goal of prohibiting and eliminating these weapons.  He will also take part in the 9th ministerial meeting of the Non-Proliferation and Disarmament Initiative (NPDI) convened by Germany and Japan.

Foreign Secretary Videgaray will represent Mexico at the Summit of Friends of the Global Pact for the Environment, convened by French President Emmanuel Macron, where he will reaffirm Mexico’s commitment to make a constructive contribution to fighting climate change and to support the progress in codifying international environmental law.

The Foreign Secretary will also chair a meeting convened by Mexico to discuss leveraging exponential technologies, innovation and automation to accelerate more harmonious and inclusive development, and he will continue the dialogue with his Ibero-American counterparts on preparations for the 26th Ibero-American Summit to be held in Guatemala.

In addition, he will take part in the second meeting of the group of countries that adopted the Lima Declaration on Venezuela to follow up on the most recent events there and he will attend the 10th MIKTA Ministerial Meeting with the Foreign Ministers of Indonesia, the Republic of Korea, Turkey and Australia.

Also, during the week, the Foreign Secretary will hold bilateral meetings with Foreign Ministers from countries of various regions to discuss common issues and strengthen Mexico's position as a responsible international actor, and he will meet with UN Secretary-General António Guterres.

While in New York City, Foreign Secretary Videgaray will meet with members of the American Jewish Committee (AJC) and the World Jewish Congress (WJC) to discuss international issues and the bilateral Mexico-United States relationship, among other issues.
