Foreign Secretary Luis Videgaray met with UK Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson on the sidelines of the G20 Meeting of Foreign Affairs Ministers.

During their meeting, the two officials discussed various bilateral issues, including the progress made since Secretary Videgaray's visit to London last October; modernization of the agreement between Mexico and the European Union and, in the context of the United Kingdom's exit from the European Union, both countries' interest in continuing to have a productive relationship in the political, economic, social, cultural, educational and scientific spheres, among others, both bilaterally and multilaterally.

In 2017, the United Kingdom ranked as Mexico's 17th trading partner worldwide and 5th among the European Union member States. It was Mexico's 8th-ranked investor in Mexico worldwide and 5th among the EU member States.
