Acapulco Mayor Evodio Álvarez and Eliat Mayor Meir Itzhak Halevy ratified the sister city agreement that was signed by both cities in Acapulco on Monday, July 17.

The ceremony was led by the Foreign Ministry's Director General for Political Coordination, Rodrigo Reina Liceaga, and was attended by Israeli's ambassador to Mexico,  Jonathan Peled, and Fabián Yáñez Carbajo, President of the Mexico-Israel Committee.

The important agreement was signed as part of the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries on July 1.  Acapulco and Eilat are beautiful and emblematic ports and tourist destinations in Mexico and Israel with common achievements and challenges.

The sister city agreement will be a catalyst for cooperation and development. The agreement calls for horizontal cooperation in tourism,  security and investment. The two cities will exchange technical assistance, information and experiences that help improve the governance and well-being of their communities.
