The Senate today ratified Marcelo Ebrard Casaubón as Secretary of Foreign Affairs after President Andrés Manuel López Obrador submitted the appointment for consideration.

Following ratification by the Senate, Foreign Secretary Marcelo Ebrard was sworn in. He thanked the lawmakers for supporting the appointment and reiterated his commitment to working with the Senate to strengthen Mexico's role in the world.

The Senate's Joint Foreign Relations Committees agreed to schedule a meeting with Foreign Secretary Marcelo Ebrard for December 14.
