The two officials agreed on the importance of their countries’ close dialogue and collaboration on many multilateral issues, including climate change, human rights and sustainable development. They highlighted the dynamic and mutually beneficial bilateral trade and investment, which has increased in sectors such as manufacturing, finance and insurance, construction and agrifood.
 
They also agreed to make the private sector aware of the additional opportunities that exist as part of the economic relationship. Foreign Secretary Ebrard stressed the importance of projects that include benefits for society and mentioned his interest in ensuring that all of the country's regions have international ties.  Both officials reiterated their commitment to the ongoing modernization of the Global Agreement between Mexico and the European Union.
 
At the regional level, they analyzed the current situation in Europe, Latin America and North America; discussed the Comprehensive Development Program for Central America; and agreed on the benefits of seeking greater synergies among aid workers. 

Mexico and the Netherlands established diplomatic relations 191 years ago. Today, the Netherlands is Mexico's 6th-ranked investor worldwide, and is 3rd in the European Union. It is Mexico's 18th-ranked trading partner worldwide, and is 6th in the European Union.
