Foreign Secretary Claudia Ruiz Massieu spoke at the 7th U.S.-Mexico CEO Dialogue, where the importance of facilitating cross-border trade between the United States and Mexico was discussed.

In her speech, the Foreign Secretary said:

"Our partnership goes beyond governments and transcends political situations because it is founded on constant exchanges, joint initiatives and shared visions of our people and entrepreneurs such as yourself on both sides of the border."

The U.S. -Mexico CEO Dialogue was created in 2013 by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Business Coordinating Council (CCE), Mexico’s leading private sector business council, to strengthen economic and commercial ties between the two countries.

The Foreign Secretary also emphasized that:

" In these times of change and realignment, dialogue between governments and private actors is essential, only together we can achieve a future of prosperity that reaches each and every one of the citizens on both sides of the border. So I invite you to defend and to promote what we have built, but also to begin thinking of new things to build together."

The event was attended by business executives and officials from both governments, including the Undersecretary for North America, Paulo Carreño King; the U.S. ambassador in Mexico, Roberta Jacobson; the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Alfa, Armando Garza and the Vice-Chairman of General Electric, John G. Rice.
