The Foreign Ministry reports that its passport offices will be open on an appointment-only basis for preventive reasons.  In addition to increasing the recommended cleaning and disinfecting measures, the number of people allowed to enter the offices will be limited.  Seniors, pregnant women and minors will be given expedited attention.  In addition, the number of appointments available will be reduced to comply with the recommendations on social distancing.

Please do not keep your appointment if you are showing any signs of respiratory disease. Do not have anyone accompany you unless it is absolutely necessary, and follow the recommended hygiene measures at all times, including sneezing into your elbow or into a tissue, making sure to cover your nose and mouth.  It is also recommended that you wash your hands frequently with soap and water or 70%-alcohol hand sanitizer.

Lastly, the public is invited to postpone their passport appointments.  The Government of Mexico advises all Mexican citizens to avoid nonessential international travel.  The number of people encountering logistical difficulties abroad has increased significantly. They are finding, for example, that flights have been canceled. This is a situation that will continue over the coming weeks.

To reschedule an appointment, please call 800 8010773. Be ready to provide the applicant's full name and appointment number.

The Foreign Ministry is in ongoing contact with the Health Ministry and will take additional steps when these become necessary.
