Foreign Secretary Luis Videgaray attended the Meeting of Ibero-American Ministers of Foreign Affairs, which was held in Antigua, Guatemala.

He congratulated Guatemala for its work as Conference Secretary Pro Tempore and said that Mexico supports the goal of harmonizing Ibero-American cooperation with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. He also praised the commitment and leadership of Ibero-American Secretary General Rebeca Grynspan, who has been instrumental in giving new impetus to the Ibero-American agenda.

Foreign Secretary Videgaray said that Mexico supports Andorra as Secretary Pro Tempore of the Ibero-American Conference for the 2019-2020 term, and Colombia's candidacy as Secretary for Ibero-American Cooperation.

At the meeting, the ministers reviewed the progress made since the 25th Ibero-American Summit (Colombia, October 2016) on topics such as the Ibero-American Pact for Youth; the Ibero-American Cultural Digital Agenda; the Strategic Plan for Giving Visibility to Ibero-American Cooperation and development of the online Ibero-American Campus platform, which will be useful for learning about and expanding mobility opportunities for students, researchers and teachers in the region.

The Ibero-American Foreign Ministers adopted the Antigua Declaration at the meeting's conclusion. It includes the most important progress made by the Conference and the steps to take so that the Conference can contribute to achieveing the Sustainable Development Goals based on its institutional strengths.

Foreign Secretary Videgaray also held bilateral meetings with the foreign ministers of  Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Honduras, Panama and Spain.

The Ibero-American Conference is the largest regional South-South cooperation forum in the world.
