Foreign Secretary Marcelo Ebrard held a high-level virtual meeting today with the United States Special Presidential Envoy for Climate, John Kerry.  The meeting was held to chart a course for the work of the two countries on the environment and climate change.

During the virtual meeting, which followed up on the March 1 call between the presidents of Mexico and the United States, the two officials agreed on the importance of reducing short-lived climate pollutants (SLCPs) and promoting energy efficiency.

Secretary Ebrard confirmed Mexico's participation in the Leaders' Climate Summit to be held on April 22.

Today's meeting was attended by Martha Delgado, Undersecretary for Multilateral Affairs and Human Rights, and Roberto Velasco, Director General and Acting Undersecretary for North America.

The Government of Mexico reaffirms its commitment to making the fight against climate change a priority of its international activity.  In addition, it reiterates its desire to work together to find multidimensional solutions that benefit the societies on both sides of the border.
