- The two officials highlighted the ongoing, constructive dialogue that has continued over the last year, which has strengthened the bilateral relationship. They also followed up on key security issues, such as the agreements reached during the High-level Dialogue on Disrupting Transnational Criminal Organizations held on May 18 and December 14, and they agreed on the importance of continuing to cooperate on bilateral security.
- The Secretaries exchanged views on regional issues such as cooperation on inclusive and sustainable development in Central America and the situation in Venezuela. Foreign Secretary Videgaray reiterated the shared commitment of Mexico and the United States to promoting a prosperous and competitive region.
- The United States is our most important trading partner and Mexico is the first-, second- or third-largest market for 31 of the 50 U.S. states. From January to November 2017, trade totaled more than 470 billion USD (Economy Ministry, 2017).
